(d)Show an awareness of the importance of these factors in homes and industries

Chapter 8: Acids and Alkalis
(a)State the properties of acids and alkaline solutions (action of alkalis on ammonium salts NOT needed )
*describe the characteristic properties of acids as in reactions with metals, bases and carbonates
** Writing of simple word equations
(c)Investigate the effect of a variety of acidic, alkaline and neutral solutions on Universal Indicator paper and natural indicators(i.e. obtained from plants)
(d)Investigate th effect on Universal Indicator paper when acidic and alkaline soluions are mixed
*describe the importance of controlling th pH in soils and how excess acidity can be treated using calcium hydroxide

Chapter 9:Classification of living thing
(a)Show an understanding of the need to classify living things
